Clare’s Top Ten Tips for Las Vegas.

  1. Has to be the Grand Canyon – should be a must for all. Simply amazing to be somewhere that is so surreal.  I would HIGHLY recommend the helicopter ride that has a touch down in the Canyon itself, where champagne and nibbles were served.   Truly one of the most special things I have done in travel.
  2. Chose your hotel wisely.  There are some real beauties.  The good hotels are all located along the new Strip!  We stayed in the Bellagio which I highly recommend, if you do go here, please ensure you have a fountain view room.  We spent a good deal of time just sitting watching the amazing fountain shows.
  3. Maybe don’t eat or drink in the bigger hotels unless you have a large budget, as the prices inside the hotels the prices are so much higher.  There is an array of places to eat outside the hotel that are much more affordable.
  4. If you like shows – you will love Las Vegas.  Pre book a couple to enjoy whilst you are there.  There is an array of  Cirque du Soleil shows, one on the Beatles, Michael Jackson and many more, there are many concerts and many other shows for all sorts of tastes.
  5. Visit the Old original strip – head downtown to Fremont Street Las Vegas.  There is so much to see and do down here and it is great to see the original strip.
  6. In the evening marvel at the many theatrical events happening outside of the hotels.  There are volcano’s, light shows, water fountains etc.  All fabulous to watch.
  7. Consider going into the Casinos for a little gambling and have some fun.  There are so many Casinos – and I mean so many!  They are hard to avoid.  But don’t be scared to walk through and not put any money in… it is quite fun to watch if gambling is not for you.
  8. Why not enjoy a meal at Hell’s Kitchen – highly recommend and you need to pre book if you require an evening meal.  But you can turn up in the day anything and be sure of a table.  The lobster Ravioli is awesome – they serve this as a starter – next time I will ask for it to be as a main meal and have more as it was truly yummy.
  9. Shopping is also very accessible and a great variety to choose from  – so if this is your thing then enjoy!
  10. Be prepared to be open minded!  Pretty much anything and everything is for sale and is promoted via bill boards on the back of vans going up and down the strip day and night!

Las Vegas, is not for everyone, or indeed the faint hearted.  For me my summary is – it is like going to La La Land – so many flashing lights, noise and so many things completely over the top.  I am glad I  have seen it and say to all, its worth a visit!  But I wont be going back.
