Introducing a Princess…

The Loire

I have just returned from the christening of the brand new Loire Princess in the French town of Nantes on 2nd April 2015.
To share an event such as this with local dignitaries, journalists from all over Europe and the owners of Croisi Europe was indeed a treat. It was a shame that we had to share this experience in the rain…

The Loire Princess is a brand new cruise vessel that has been designed specifically to cruise the Loire River in France. She is the first of a new generation paddleboat on the Loire and will be the first-ever overnight cruise vessel on this river.
The ship has been designed for shallow waters that are found in the Loire, with a small paddle wheel on the side that will help propel the vessel.
Taking a total of 96-passenger on each cruise if the ship were full, with just 48 cabins, this is a lovely small river cruise option. All staterooms on the upper deck have balconies measuring 10 feet by 4 feet. I found each cabin to be well appointed and all the usual cabin amenities which include plasma-screen TVs, hair dryers, minibar, safes and air-conditioning. There will also be Wi-Fi access. The décor was classy and a real warm feel is felt throughout. The beds are incredibly comfortable. There are just two decks. The upper deck cabins all having balconies and the lower deck all having picture windows.

The restaurant offers a for single-service dining. CroisiEurope places a lot of emphasis on its French heritage, and meals on board will inspired by French culinary traditions. Other public areas include a sun deck and a panoramic lounge with a bar and dance floor. I found all the facilities to be very tasteful and I liked the warmth that was created throughout. Staff were friendly and the food that I had on board was of a very good standard and very French!
The town of Nantes was very interesting, being home to Jules Verne and Tin Tin… there were some really strange attractions here and I would definitely recommend a stay in this lovely town either pre or post cruise. The hotel I would recommend is the Radisson Blu, where I enjoyed a night. Fabulous hotel with great facilities and in a very good location.
