Oceania’s Nautica and Marina ship visit.

On the 4th of September I was invited to go see two Oceania ships, the Marina and the Nautica, in Southampton. Upon boarding the Marina we were given glasses of prosecco and taken to a grand lounge where we comfortably sat and given a presentation about Oceania’s history.
We were then taken to see some of the staterooms, which were absolutely breath-taking. The owners suite was beyond stunning, with furnishings designed by Ralph Lauren and so much space you would hardly know you were in a cruise ship cabin! There are two walk in wardrobes, whirlpool hot tubs, a music room, a 24hr butler and so much more.
The next staterooms we saw were the Vista and Oceania suites, designed by New York designer Dakota Jackson. My personal favourite was the Vista suite due to the modern and luxurious feel that the room gave.
The thing that surprised me most about Oceania is that although I looked at the veranda staterooms last I didn’t feel that the level of luxury was lowered, only the size of the room. I would happily spend a cruise on any of Oceania’s lead in cabin types simply because you don’t feel as if you’re losing out or any expense has been spared – which it hasn’t!
Violinists were playing in the lobby as people were boarding the ship, all of the staff were so friendly as every staff member I saw smiled and greeted me as I passed.
The restaurants onboard both ships are spectacular, with Red Ginger – their Asian fusion favourite – being built inland in London because of its popularity!
As for my experience with Oceania I can honestly say that I’ve never eaten a nicer meal in my life. We transferred to the Nautica, and after a brief tour of the boat (not quite as modern as the Marina with more of a 5* countryside retreat type feel to it) we were settled in ‘The Grand Dining Room’ and boy was it grand. The ceilings were painted with beautiful murals that reminded me of the Sistine chapel and the tables were adorned with Versace tableware. For starters I had a dish with beluga caviar, my second course was a beautiful lobster risotto, my main was a sumptuously cooked seabass wrapped in banana leaf and paired with basmati rice and a ginger sauce, and for desert I dined on the most divine chocolate caramel mousse I’ve ever tasted. No wonder Oceania are meant to have the best food in the cruising world!
I was only on the Oceania ships for a total of five hours but never have I ever felt so spoilt or treated such like royalty.
Every single penny you spend on an Oceania ship is worth it and I would thoroughly, thoroughly recommend it.
