On Board Vantage Travel with Clare Dudley

In this blog I am able to share with you all my personal opinions and some images of the brand new MS River Voyager from Vantage Travel. We were fortunate enough to enjoy the journey along the Rhine from Basle in Switzerland to Amsterdam. As we only had 4 days on the boat we only had the one stop in Mianz.

We had a nice short flight from Stansted to Basle which was made ever smoother by pre booking meet and greet parking alongside the fast track Service at the airport. This made the outward journey simple and less stressful avoiding many queues. I will definitely book this service again worth the extra few pounds.

We arrived in Basle and took a short 15 minutes transfer to the Rhine.

Embarkation onto the River Voyager was seamless and we were greeted by a selection of the crew all looking very smart and proud to be on this lovely new boat.

Upon arrival one of the first things I noticed was that the boat was gleaming throughout. As you enter you are greeted with the most beautiful staircase with an array of colour art all depicting music in different genres and styles.

Here is my description of the boat in full; On the Solaris Deck you will find lots to while away sometime including a giant chess set, miniature golf, jogging/walking track and a good selection of reclining chairs to enjoy the wonderful views. There is a good use of the grass effect throughout. There is a choice of varied seating areas where you could sit with friends at table and chairs perhaps enjoying a favourite beverage whilst you enjoy the stunning views or a selection of chairs and recliners to simply relax, unwind and take in the scenery that passes you by. There are a series of approx 10 wide steps that also have a chair lift for those who have difficulty with stairs taking you to the Navigator deck. The atrium area is designed with a fresh and pleasant look again with music being an influential theme for the art work. At the front of the boat you have the Blue Note lounge. Here you have a well-stocked library, a help yourself tea/coffee/hot chocolate station. And of course water. Then you will find a mini bar for your enjoyment. The room has a variation of comfy chairs all providing great views of the rivers and towns around as the lounge has full floor to ceiling windows throughout. The lounge also has a dance floor for shows and of course dancing. There is a small outdoor area with seating allowing you to take in the most beautiful views and the journey unfolding ahead.

Cabins on this deck include the owner’s suite, deluxe suites and French balcony cabins. Each cabin is very well designed and equipped. There is ample wardrobes and draws, a seating area, dressing table, TV with free viewing of a great selection of films. Hair dryers, safe and mini bar are in all cabins. The bathroom is spacious and well thought through.

The Explorer Deck. Again at the front of the boat you will find the main restaurant Bourbon Street
A very well laid out dining room again with great views of your journey with the floor to ceiling Windows. Breakfast is buffet style with waiter service too. There is an egg chef on hand and also a daily speciality breakfast. Lunch is a combination of Buffett or waiter service menu. Evening meal is waiter service with a fine four course meal. I found the food to be of an excellent standard, with a great choice and many different flavours to savour. The service in the restaurants was also of a very high standard

On this deck you have the reception desk and also the concierge desk. There is a small area with gifts that can be purchased on board

The cabins on this floor are all French balcony cabins

At the back of the boat on this deck there is a further restaurant/cafe drinks area called Cotton Club

The Odyssey Deck. On this deck you will find
• Laundry and ironing service
• Massage studio
• Fitness Room
I had a massage and it was fantastic. 50euros for 45 minutes which I thought was a good value for money.

The cabins located on this deck are window cabins. The windows are eye level. Which give you a just above water level view. There is also a selection of single cabins which equipped the same as the other main cabins

My overall summary of the cruise is that this Vantage product is of a very high standard and one I would thoroughly recommend. In my 4 days on board there was not one thing I could find fault with. The accommodation, the service, the quality of food, the choice of food and the attention to detail has been superb throughout. I will certainly be recommended Vantage to all my customers

Mainz – we enjoyed the town of Mainz
The highlight of the time here was the Gutenberg Museum which is one of the oldest museums of printing in the world, located opposite the cathedral in the old part of Mainz, Germany. It is named after Johannes Gutenberg, the inventor of printing from moveable metal type in Western Europe. The collections include printing equipment and examples of printed materials from many cultures.
