Croisi Europe on the Princesse d’Aquitaine

Dear Rebecca

My sister and I are back from the most splendid time with Croisi Europe on the Princesse d’Aquitaine and wanted to thank you and Sandrine for finding the holiday and making the arrangements. It just made it so easy for us to have Ponders Travel do all the research for us. Also we were reassured by the package which gave us extra overall holiday protection in the event of any difficulty – of which there were none.

We were incredibly lucky with the most marvellous weather so the countryside looked at its best. End of season meant there were no crowds.

The river cruising was a total delight. The staff were outstanding, especially Jose the purser, and really added to the enjoyment of the cruise. The itinerary was interesting. We had a most lovely morning walking round Blaye’s citadel in the sunshine, and were charmed by the goats and sheep – and impressed by the very knowledgeable staff at the Musée.

We love to do local activities and saw a dreadful Juliette Binoche film in Pauillac (we felt we couldn’t leave, there were only three of us in the audience!) and the ridiculous Cendrillon in Libourne and the dining staff were very accommodating as we rushed to dinner late, or left early.

We loved being “the English party” on the ship and the other guests were quiet and pleasant. As our cabin was right below the dance floor, we particularly appreciated that the music finished by 10.30 and that no one was dancing late into the night.

The Friday market at Libourne was an unexpected pleasure with its live chickens and wonderful produce and we had a lovely time in St Emilion enjoying the petit train and coming back on a local train.

We thought timing to the airport might be a bit tight on the return, but other passengers needed to be back at Bordeaux for 9 a.m. rather than the scheduled 11 a.m. so we were able to use the fantastic public transport to get to the airport, one tram journey and one bus (line 1+ from Victoire) journey, total time 60 minutes for just €1.60 each, marvellous! It was a foggy morning so we didn’t miss any scenery either. Although we had arrived in the Bordeaux airport “Billi“ area, we didn’t immediately realise this separate terminal barely 50 yards away is “Billi” and was also from where Easjyet departs. It is a bit third world, but does the necessary once you know you must go left from the bus and not be in the main terminal . . . !

Many thanks to your colleague Lorraine for sorting the tickets just as soon as she got the scanned paperwork.

And we hope you enjoyed your own holiday.

Kind regards
