3 tobogans“Finnish Lapland is one of the remotest places in the world or at the centre of all activity – it depends which way you look at it. It is, however, important to know that Lapland is easy to reach from any part of the globe.

Travelling to Lapland. there are a number of flights. Lapland’s airports are located in  Kemi, Rovaniemi, Kittilä, Enontekiö and Ivalo . At your holiday destination you can easily travel using the local SkiBus, hire car or taxi.

8 Seasons

Lapland can also be described as the land of 8 seasons: Christmas (deep winter), Frosty Winter (late winter), Crusty Snow (spring),  Departure of Ice  ( early summer), Midnigt Sun (summer), Harvest Season (late summer), Colourful Autumn (autumn), First Snow (early winter).

The eight seasons of the year differ greatly from each other. There are various factors affecting the climate, and it is thanks to them that Lapland can enjoy warm and sunny summer days, frosty and beautiful winter days, as well as the unique Polar Night and Polar Day, the long periods of continuous night and day.

A taste of activities:

How about skiing on guaranteed snow cover, or perhaps a sensory awakening with a dip in an ice pool? Would you prefer canoeing in the sunshine, or maybe a trek through the countryside?

The Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis)
The Northern Lights are light phenomena that can be viewed in the southern and northern polar regions on a clear and dark night. on average the Northern Lights may be seen every other night, mostly in September – October and February – March. However you should put aside a week if you are want to have a chance to see this spectacular sight.

Husky_7According to an old Asian belief, a person who once spots the Northern Lights can live happily ever after. The Finnish term for the Northern Lights, Revontulet, meaning fox fire, comes from an old tale where the fox was believed to swish its bushy tail on the snowy fell landscapes, throwing sparks into the air.
